John's Pass Village
The north end of Treasure Island is marked by John's Pass which is a natural water boundary that separates Treasure Island on the south from neighboring Madeira Beach to the north.
The "Great Gale" of 1848 created John's Pass created John's Pass which was discovered by a local fisherman named, you guessed it, John, when he returned to the area following the storm. The storm surge from must have been a very large hurricane literally punched a hole in the long island that ran along the Pinellas County coast forming a water pass.
Today, John's Pass serves the area's marine interests as one of the few ways to get from the Intercoastal Waterway to the Gulf of Mexico. A recently reconstructed John's Pass Drawbridge connects Treasure Island and Madeira Beach.
On the north side of John's Pass in Madeira Beach is the famous John's Pass Village. Modeled after an early 20th century fishing village, John's Pass Village is home to a wide variety of shops and resturants that attract both tourist and locals.
Below is a guide to some of the shop and restaurants that call John's Pass home.

John's Pass, Madeira Beach, Florida
The Hut downstairs is an open air bar that runs the entire length of the restaurant. Friendly Fisherman Restaurant
John's Pass Village, Madeira Beach, Florida
One of the longest-running restaurants at John's Pass Boardwalk (since 1978), you can't miss its lighthouse and giant redfish on the western end of the boardwalk. It's a place where you can bring the family and enjoy the intensely Floridian experience of having your fresh catch from the nearby marina cooked just for you. The main dining room is upstairs, while the more laid-back sports/beach bar, the Pirate's Cove, is directly over the water. Perfect for watching dolphins as you sip a cold one.

Sculley's Boardwalk Restaurant
190 John’s Pass Boardwalk, Madeira Beach
Marvel at the nautical bric-a-brac upstairs in the dining room or enjoy the laid-back bar scene downstairs at this John's Pass tourist magnet. Sculley's is the name of the restaurant where you'll find fresh seafood that's often been caught in the gulf in the past 24 hours. With water views and an outside dining area, this is a good spot to take visitors who don't want the cleaned-up version down the way (Bubba Gump's).

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.
185 Boardwalk Place W. Madeira Beach, FL
While the shrimp are tasty and Gump-obilia decor fun, the biggest draw is the boisterous, whoop-it-up shenanigans of the staff. It's a multi-page menu, but many items recur in different combinations. Firm white mahi mahi gets a batter-dipping and just the right amount of time in the fryer before it appears on a fishwich, in a "bucket of boat trash" along with fried shrimp and a couple steamed lobster claws, or in a classic fish and chips. Fried shrimp make appearances in everything from a po' boy to a Caesar salad.
